Lilli and Posh

Posh (ADJ): elegant or stylishly luxurious
Posh (ADV): in a refined or upper-class way
Posh (NOUN): the quality of being elegant, stylish or upper class

No matter which way you slice it, the word posh inherently conjures up the idea of elegance, style and class in my mind. That’s exactly how I would describe the shoot I had with Lilli and Post last fall. If you can’t tell from the photos, Lilli is very outgoing and she’s the epitome of a social butterfly. And she’s obviously very fashion forward and her style changes right along with the latest trends. In short, if you need fashion advice, Lilli should be your go-to gal.

It shouldn’t be surprising that this Warmblood mare is a hunter jump. That event just screams posh! Even though Posh and Lilli have only been teamed up for about two years, they’re regularly competing on the rated circuit in the 3’3” - 3’36” classes. For some unknown reason, Posh is afraid of white jumps but she will quite literally leap over everything Lilli points her at. It’s clearly a testament to the bond these two have forged. I was surprised to learn that it wasn’t love at first sight for Lilli.

“We found Posh through our old trainer. I rode her and wasn’t 100% sure, but then I went back and spent time with Posh and we bonded. I knew then she was for me! I absolutely adore her! I love her big ears, the remind me of an elephant. They flop around the arena.”

Even though Lilli and Posh love taking a trip around the jumping course, they spend a lot of time doing other things: walking the field of Little Sugar, grooming and getting in a spa day. Both Lilli and Posh can be described as stubborn, sweet and cute. And after spending an afternoon with the pair, I concur wholeheartedly. Posh wasn’t super excited about the shoot at the beginning, but she settled down and we got some great shots. However, Posh’s antics made for some really great blooper shots. Made sure you check those out down below! But it was the sweet, sunset shots that made my little heart soar at the end of the day. Don’t skim over those either. All in all, it was another fun shoot with two great subjects!
