Taylor and Boone
If you’ve been around for even a minute, then you’ve definitely heard of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I had the unique honor of making a small part of a wish come true. I want everyone to meet Boone and his person, Taylor. My camera fell in love with them even before I heard their sweet story. You can read all about how the pair came to be right here.
The duo came together last fall and as part of granting Taylor’s wish to receive a ranch horse, I donated a photo shoot. I’m so glad we were able to get together this spring after the two had time to get to know each other. When Taylor met Boone, sparks didn’t fly with an instant connection. Boone was certainly a surprise, but it was the day after Taylor had put her other horse down. Taylor said she spent every day with Boone since they got together so could they build the undeniable connection that leaps out of these photos. Boone has such a sweet soul and he absolutely adores Taylor. Every time she walks in the barn, he knickers his hello and then when she heads out he whinnies in protest.
Taylor will be entering her second fall semester at the University of Arkansas and she’s looking forward to continuing showing Boone on the ranch horse team. One major obstacle of this shoot was getting Boone’s ears up. My assistant was using his best moves and Boone really came through for us. He can be quirky even when the camera isn’t out. Apparently, he absolutely loves apple slices and enjoys rolling in the grass at every single opportunity. He can drive Taylor a little crazy, but what great horse doesn’t?
Self described as easy going, go with the flow and a style attune with the 70s, Taylor wasn’t bothered at all when the wind was blowing like a freight train before her shoot started. We willed the wind to quit and got lucky that it did long enough to get these cool shots. I really love how these photos turned out. It’s hard to go wrong with golden hour, but throw in two perfectly matched souls and that’s where the magic happens!
