Gift Ideas with Little Joe

Birthdays can be hard. They have this pesky tendency of coming around every year. Ya know, one of those annual things? At some point it gets really hard to figure out what to give someone for their birthday, especially if they really don’t need anything and maybe don’t give you a good list. Now, you might not have this issue with the people in your life, but there has to be SOMEBODY who’s hard to buy for. Might I make a suggestion? How about a photo shoot! Here me out, some people really enjoy getting their photo taken but for those who don’t you can get them a photo shoot of someone special. Say their dog or horse? Or if they have kids or grandkids, you can never go wrong gifting them memories like that.

That’s exactly what Jill did for her daughter at Christmas. She purchased a black background shoot of her gelding, Little Joe. For a 20-year-old gelding, this dude looks absolutely fantastic. Heck, for any age, he looks amazing. They found this sweet boy about 10 years ago on Craigslist. Being handsome was just part of his draw, his personality really shines through his photos. At least it does for me and Jill said that’s what sold her on him way back when. As a photographer, an expressive horse who likes to stand still is what dreams are made of. Seriously, Joe was the best subject ever. He didn’t hardly move and gave me AALLLLLLL the expressions.

It was kind of a tough shoot though because it was super muddy thanks to all the snow. Unfortunately, that meant several hours were spent cleaning up Joe’s legs. That wasn’t really a big deal for Jill and her daughter because they enjoy all aspects of Joe’s daily care. They don’t compete at all, they’re the true definition of pleasure riders. When Little Joe does get saddled up, it’s for a leisurely ride around the farm or even down the road. His favorite activity is probably just hanging out around home. Of course he likes being in his pasture, but one of his favorite places to be is in the yard around the house. If someone’s outside, he hangs by the fence just waiting to be let out.
